Ash Wednesday 8/8

What I’m reading:
MycoMedicinals by Paul Stamets
This book describes and documents the health benefits of 17 different species of mushrooms. If you’re interested in learning how critical mushrooms are to our whole ecosystem read/listen to anything by PAUL STAMETS.

What I’m listening to:
Oprah’s SuperSoul Conversations – Adyashanti: Falling into Grace
https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/caroline-myss-discovering-your-lifes-
purpose/id1264843400?i=1000416549746&mt=2

I’ve listened to this podcast 3 times now! Have a listen and take. notes.

Product I’m loving:
Soap Nuts!! These are essentially just berry shells that act as an all-natural detergent. WHAT?! I started doing some research on different products that I was buying that come in large plastic bottles (shampoo, conditioner, body wash, dish soap etc.) and I came across this – I was skeptical at first but I am officially converted. Stay tuned for some alternative shower products 🙂

(The more I turn away from plastic products, the closer I get to nature. It feels so good.)

Word of the week:
Grace. My experience with grace is that it isn’t something to be learned or achieved. Grace is found in my body and in my spirit through the energy of allowing and remembering that it already exists inside of me. It bubbles up when I surrender to the moment. Grace is my essence. It’s yours too.

Poem of the week:
When I am among the trees,
especially the willows and the honey locust,
equally the beech, the oaks and the pines,
they give off such hints of gladness.
I would almost say that they save me, and daily.

I am so distant from the hope of myself,
in which I have goodness, and discernment,
and never hurry through the world
but walk slowly, and bow often.

Around me the trees stir in their leaves
and call out, “Stay awhile.”
The light flows from their branches.

And they call again, “It’s simple,” they say,
“and you too have come
into the world to do this, to go easy, to be filled
with light, and to shine.”
